Augustine once siad that (the citizens of God's Kingdom make the best citizens here- paraphrase)

I happen to agree with that thought. If we truly go about our work as citizens of the kingdom than we will make the best citizens in this world. That is not because we are Christian or American but because we will concern ourselves with the things God is concerned about, justice, love, mercy, etc.

i suppose in some ways this is an accurate statement. if people of Christ lived by the beatitudes and the greatest commandments then we'd have some awesome citizenry (is that word?). however, what you are probably getting worried on, and i see it too, is when the line is blurred that the only good citizens can be Christians or the Christianity is civic and not spiritual. which are all underlying messages, intended or not, in the whole political fundamentalist bed.
